With every breath, she fades
A poem with Persephone in mind
What she wants is unattainable in a world that doesn’t understand her; cries and hilly moments of despair.
She battles the internal of her raging thoughts and the external of those telling her what she needs and who she should be.
She struggles just to get by as the unit that holds memories plagues her existence repeatedly, viciously, and unkind. She knows not how to articulate the worries that take over her emotions, her being, her day-to-day. She knows nothing but how to hide.
Deep sighs increase with every mile while wishes, hopes, and dreams begin to fade away. She becomes lost in the sea of others with beating hearts and chaotic minds. She shrinks hoping that one day the agony that haunts her either kills or calms the tide.
She has stopped giving herself sunlight, water, and fertilizer. She has stopped having faith. She sees no point when all there is, is pain at every wake.
The tyranny of her own thoughts and the loneliness among many.
The will to live is no longer stronger than the will to escape. The will to hang on has depleted over time.
She wonders what will happen if she simply said goodbye but with a deep sigh, she says “even this I am denied”
