Navigating Transformation, Divination, and Storytelling
Mysticism, magic, and all the creative intricacies of the spiritual world have always sparked my interest. Since my teenage years, I have loved wandering into weird and eclectic stores hoping to walk inside a book, enter a hidden passageway, or unlock the secrets to bringing magic to life. The whimsical appeal of things that are odd and rare breathes life into me; perhaps it’s a sense of belonging or an inner calling that I’m only just now fully embracing.
I fondly recall wandering around a distinctive area in the heart of Philadelphia, known as South Street — a playground for the unusually attired and eccentric residents of the neighborhood. I often found myself exploring stores like Spencer’s and other offbeat boutiques, even though some weren’t exactly welcoming. My quest for novelty and the unconventional drove me to venture in and out of these establishments
One place I frequented often was ‘Garland of Letters,’ a captivating blend of a bookstore and an occult shop. I have to confess the magnetic pull of the massive metal lion statue guarding its entrance always lured me in.
