The Dopamine is Wearing Off and Now I Can’t Finish!
Or can we?
So how do we keep going with ideas, dreams, tasks, etc to completion? How do we not abandon what we started? This has been one of the most controversial topics since the discovery of ADHD in 1902 or 1798…(goes down the google rabbit hole).
Anyway, many books have been written, planners created (shameless marketing), and many TED talks, youtube, and write-ups such as this one have been published. But the question still lingers, how do those of us with neurodivergent minds get off the hamster wheel of intrigue, start, and never finish?
***Warning: F-bombs may be present throughout this read!***
Most people would say "you have to focus and concentrate!" Let me say this with the most colorful of verbiage...please shut the f*ck up!
Now that, that's out of the way let me briefly explain why focusing is not necessarily the answer.
To tell someone with a neurodivergent mind that all you need to do is “focus” is like putting two magnets together; IT REPELS! …and in turn, causes someone like myself to shut down. In addition, the problem isn’t lack of focus because at times we can have way too much of it; to the point of android mode!
