30 thousand ways to write better, get views, niche down, and do the hokey pokey while playing hopscotch in the sand. Please hold while I no longer give a led pencil!

Believe you me, I’ve tried!

I have in every aspect of my life tried to conform and follow the rules and regulations of how we should carry ourselves. But for the sake of this reading let me niche down (ba-dum-dum-CHING).

In regards to writing, the one thing I find taking over the home page here on medium, other writing platforms, and insight from fellow writers is to stick to a niche or specific genre/topic. *insert sing song voice* BOR-ING!!!

That may be a childish response to some of you but it’s the honest truth. It’s also not the only point I’m here to make.

To hone in on one specific area may seem feasible initially but it may also cause writers block, delays, and burnout. To add, I feel the initial spark of creative flow diminishes and it may cause a “type cast”.

Have you ever referred to a TV show actor/actress as the character from a show they played on from age 5 til 25? We lose sense of who they are and can’t see beyond what they are capable of because of the role they played for that extended period of time…
