Raise your hand if you feel like going into a cave and rolling a boulder in front of the entrance.

I know that feeling, and I know how hard it can be to navigate its emotional potency. It feels like a tractor lined with porcupine quills steam rolling your mind while setting fire to your emotions, and the only thing you want to do is melt in a corner. But try not to lock yourselves away just yet as there are a few tangible things you can do to help navigate through these heavy energies:

🏃🏾‍♀️💧Water and movement

Flush out and work through those heavy energies by taking walks or engaging in fun activities like pole dancing. 😅What? it’s fun! Moving keeps you grounded and also keeps you from being stuck in a dark cloud for too long. 💦Stay hydrated, especially after deep cries. Water helps to cleanse and move these moments with ease and helps to keep you level-headed.

📝Write a letter to your pain

The number one key here is to be honest. No filters, preservatives, or accurate punctuation are required. This is more about expressing how you truly feel without caveats. It gives you a way to release in that moment without judgment. You can check out this video here:

🧘🏾‍♀️Find exhale moments

Outside of breath work, which I highly recommend, engaging in things that help you to exhale can also be beneficial. Painting, writing, sculpting, reading, bicycling, playing with childhood toys, etc. are ways to give yourself breathing room and a form of gentle self care.

🐩🐈‍⬛️Animal healing

Engage with a fluffy friend, go to the zoo, nature preserve, aquarium, or watch animal videos. Animals give off a natural healing energy that’s therapeutic and soothing. Watch how they interact and go about their day. Sometimes, you can get inspiration simply by observing a floof or scaley friend. If you play close attention, they show you how to heal and flow forward.

These modalities have helped me better manage my emotional and mental disrupts when they arise and I hope they can do the same for you.
